Artist Information: Christine Amarger

Born in Clermont-Ferrand France in 1935 Christine Amarger took specialised training to be a teacher of young children. She studied at l'Ecole du Louvre in Paris before spending a time studying printmaking at Atelier XVII finally going on to train and then teach at the Pratt Institute in America. Throughout her career she has avolved a highly personalised style reflecting her interest in children and contrasting this with elements of contemporary life. She has worked on a series of etchings choosing from them differing themes of newspapers umbrellas musical instruments bird cages all seen in relation to children and depicted in a humorous slightly satirical way. Amarger has held many exhibitions both on the Continent and in America.

Her work has been chosen for major international art fairs notably in Basel Dusseldorf and Washington DC. Her most recent exhibition was during the Spring of 1982 in Sydney Australia where her work was shown with two other French artists.
